The Mad Scientist Laboratory published a guest blog post this week by the Pardee Center’s Director Dr. Jonathan D. Moyer, Research Affiliate Alex Porter, and Deputy Director of the US Army Future Studies Group Dr. Christopher Rice. “Building Capacity to Think about the Future” explains how the Pardee Center’s International Futures (IFs) model can help analysts and decision-makers understand current trajectories of development and make integrated, informed choices for a more optimal future. The authors make the case that while the future is unknowable, the human experience is characterized by continuity much more than it is by change. Understanding current trajectories can help us frame uncertainty and make more informed choices. The Mad Scientist Laboratory blog is a marketplace of ideas about the future of our society, work, and conflict. Mad Scientist is a U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) initiative and a community of action that continually explores the future through collaborative partnerships and continuous dialogue with academia, industry and government.
