On April 20, Mickey Rafa presented “Using Nighttime Lights for Poverty Analysis in Uganda” at the Spring Meeting of the Colorado-Wyoming Chapter of the American Statistical Association in Boulder, Colorado. This research, which was sponsored by The Learning Contract (USAID-Uganda), explores the effectiveness of nighttime lights in evaluating poverty at small geographic scales.
In May 2018, Director Jonathan D. Moyer travelled to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for a meeting of the ENACT Index Technical Reference Group. The group continues its work mitigating the impact of transnational organized crime on development, governance, security, and the rule of law in Africa.
