Austin S. Matthews started as a Research Associate at the Pardee Center in the fall of 2018. He received his Ph.D in Political Science from Louisiana State University in May 2018. His dissertation examined the use of targeted repression by dictators against their political allies. Austin was the recipient of a U.S. Department of State Title VIII Fellowship in 2016, which he used to acquire critical languages training in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian. He has presented original research as a panelist at the Midwest Political Science Association and Southern Political Science Association annual conferences. Austin's work at the Pardee Center focuses on projects examining international security and cooperation.
